Voice Of A Revolution Part 2.

In recent months, America has experienced change. People are fighting and speaking out against injustices that have plagued this country for too long. We have seen a collective effort to amplify wrongfully quieted voices and hear their stories. At Revival, we are listening and working to be active agents of change.

With the contributions of our supporters, Revival was able to match donations totaling $500 to Campaign Zero and Black Lives Matter. Funds donated to Campaign Zero “support the analysis of policing practices across the country, research to identify effective solutions to end police violence, technical assistance to organizers leading police accountability campaigns and the development of model legislation and advocacy to end police violence nationwide.” Black Lives Matter has been a leading advocate on righting the wrongs that “systematically and disproportionately impact Black and under-served communities across the nation.”

Reflecting on the bigger picture, the entirety of the music industry has stepped up to create change and improve our community. Music executives Brianna Agyemang and Jamila Thomas created #TheShowMustBePaused and encouraged people to stand in solidarity against racism and police brutality. The movement asked social media users to pause the normal activity and give Black voices the chance to be heard. Platforms were flooded with black squares and by the end of June 2, 2020, 14.6 million Instagram posts used the hashtag #BlackoutTuesday.

Many of our bands have utilized their social followings and vocalized their support for the Black community.

As a label, we pride ourselves on releasing good music, and more importantly, on being good people. We echo what our artists have shared. We realize that being an ally is not a stagnant title earned through social media posts. There is extreme importance in sustaining continuous participation in this movement. We know the fight is nowhere near being over. We mustn’t lose momentum.

Below is a google document that contains petitions, donation information, and content to help you educate yourself. Keep showing up.
