The Second After On “I’m Not Okay” Podcast
Following the release of The Second After’s new EP “We Are Who We Are” the band has been busy promoting content and engaging with fans. In late May, Michael Greason and Alfred Williamson were featured on “I’m Not Okay”, an alternative music discovery podcast.
“I’m Not Okay” podcast shared on their Instagram,
“They’re such endearing, hilarious, talented dudes and we’re so excited to finally share this episode with all of you.”
Greason and Alfred appeared in episode 44, “Catch Me In Ral’ How Bout Dah”. The band members opened up about the new EP, how they’re dealing with the pandemic, and engaged in a genuine, yet entertaining interview.
After introductions, Greason and Alfred discussed how they have adapted to life at home, in the era of COVID-19. Alfred shared that he is busier than usual since he works for a medical device company.
“We’ve been doing a lot of studies on sterilizing and n-ninety five masks for hospitals, like UNC hospital particularly.” - Alfred
In his scattered free time, he has been bingeing the Anime, One Piece. Greason finds himself on the “opposite spectrum”. He says he has a lot of time on his hands and has been cooking, playing video games, and spending quality time with his girlfriend and cat.
Later in the podcast, they shared some of their favorite bands and most memorable Warped Tour shows. Alfred expressed his love for All Time Low, Neck Deep, and State A Champs. Greason’s favorites included Death Cab for Cutie, Relient K, and Simple Plan. The boys both agree that their favorite Warped Tour was 2018, the year they played.
Wrapping things up, the host asked how dropping an EP in the middle of the pandemic influenced the experience. Alfred believes that they have been affected both negatively and positively. Unfortunately, their tour was canceled, but more people are online now and that has allowed them to reach fans through social media and streaming platforms. Greason communicated how much he misses engaging with fans at live shows.
“It just sucks because there’s just like a part of you that just wants to like go up and put it in people’s faces and give them the performance and like transfer the energy to them face to face.” - Greason
In spite of everything, the band is still extremely optimistic and looking forward to the future. Greason and Alfred are most excited to perform “A Change In My Condition” live when venues begin to reopen. The band members share that the EP is super energetic and was a blast to write. They both agree that the music turned out exactly how they had imagined.
